A man found suffering a gunshot wound to the head in Newark's South Ward has police on the scene at this time.
Details regarding the shooting are developing but according to preliminary reports, police responded to the Weequahic Park side of Dayton Street after receiving reports of an injured person at approximately 9:55 a.m.
Upon their arrival, officers found an unconscious and unresponsive male suffering a gunshot wound to the head according to reports.
EMS rushed the victim to University Hospital in "grave" condition.
The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation.
There are no reports of suspects sought or arrests made at this time. Avoid the area for the investigation.
