There is at least one person injured in a shooting that occurred a short time ago in a neighborhood in Newark.
The incident happened in the 100 block of Irvine Turner Boulevard (at 18th Avenue) shortly before 5:30 p.m. sending police to the scene where officers found about a dozen shell casings at that location.
One person was transported to the hospital by private vehicle in an unknown condition. There are reports of another shooting victim at the Clara Maass Hospital, but it is not immediately clear where this person suffered their injuries at this time.
Police have a crime scene established and an investigation underway.
**UPDATE 6:43 p.m.** Police are confirming a 19-year-old victim for the Irvine Turner Boulevard shooting. As for the shooting victim at Clara Maass, authorities have not confirmed if the shooting took place in Newark at this time.
