Police in Newark are on the scene of a shooting with injuries and property damage in the city’s North Ward at this time.
According to preliminary reports, police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the vicinity of North 12th Street and 6th Avenue at around 7 p.m. had police on the scene where they found several homes struck by bullets.
While police set up a crime scene to begin their investigation, University Hospital officials contacted them when a male victim suffering gunshot wounds entered the emergency department.
Police have the area taped off as they collect evidence and attempt to determine the motive for the shooting.
There were no reports of injuries inside any of the homes.
Avoid the area for the investigation.
