BREAKING NEWARK NJ: Female Struck by Gunfire in Newark's South Ward

There are two crime scene established in Newark's South Ward as police investigate a shooting that has a female injured at this time.

According to preliminary reports, gunfire rang out in the vicinity of Bergen and West Runyon streets just before 6 p.m. where officers raced to the scene and found evidence that a shooting occurred, but after officers searched the area, they did not locate a victim.

A short time later, police were directed to the 100 block of Seymour Avenue where they found the female struck by at least one bullet and believe the woman suffered her injury at the Bergen Street crime scene according to reports.

The victim was rushed to the hospital in an unknown condition while police stayed at the scene to collect evidence. It is not clear if there are any other victims.

A silver colored vehicle was observed speeding from the scene immediately after the shooting.

There is no motive for the shooting at this time.
