There are serious injuries reported for a male found shot near a supermarket in Newark
According to police, the victim was found in front of the ShopRite in the 200 block of Springfield Avenue suffering a bullet wound to the face just before 5:50 p.m.
Police say the victim was rushed to University Hospital for treatment and is in an unknown condition.
The area has been placed on a temporary lockdown.
**UPDATE: 6:55pm** Two males engaged in a verbal altercation inside ShopRite when one of the males left the store and waited for the other male in the parking. When the victim walked out of Shop Rite, the suspect fired three rounds, striking the victim in the face according to witnesses.
Police have not confirmed the extent of his injuries at this time.
There are no other injuries reported.
