Multiple rounds detected on a ShotSpotter device sent police to a location in Newark’s West Ward where they found a male shot this afternoon.
According to police, a gunman fired about a dozen shots in the vicinity of 308 14th Avenue -near South 16th Street- at around 12:50 p.m.
Police say bullets struck the male at that location causing life-threatening injuries.
EMS has been ordered to rush to the scene for the unconscious and unresponsive victim.
Police say three males fled the scene in a minivan with tinted windows and remains at-large.
UPDATE 1:16 pm Victim en route to University Hospital.
Avoid the area for the investigation.
