BREAKING NEWARK: Gunshot Victim Found Inside Vehicle in Newark's South Ward

Police are investigating a shooting that has a male severely injured at a location in the city’s South Ward.

According to a preliminary investigation, police were flagged down by the driver of a vehicle in the area of Bergen and Clinton Avenue at around 9:10 p.m.

When police began to investigate, they found an unconscious person inside the car suffering bullet wounds.

Police learned that the victim was shot in the 90’s block of Frelinghuysen Avenue shortly before being found.

EMS rushed to the scene to transport the victim to the hospital.

Detectives canvassing the Frelinghuysen Avenue crime scene located shell casings but there were no other victims found.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
