BREAKING: Man Enters University Hospital in Newark Suffering Bullet Wounds

Police set up a crime scene in a neighborhood in Newark's South Ward after a male gunshot victim entered University Hospital on Friday morning.

Police have not released much on this, but according to preliminary information, at approximately 4:51 a.m., officials at the hospital contacted police when the victim walked into the emergency department suffering bullet wounds in his neck and head.

Reports say the unidentified victim told police that he came under attack by at least one gunman in the vicinity of 244 Chadwick Avenue before arriving at the hospital.

Officers at the hospital located the vehicle that transported the victim with shell casings inside. Back at the Chadwick Avenue crime scene, police found a car struck by bullets, but after officers canvassed the neighborhood, there were no other victims, according to police.

The investigation into this incident is in its early stages and is considered active and ongoing.

UPDATE 7:07 am There is one other person shot during this incident.
