Police are on the scene of a shooting with life-threatening injuries reported at this time in Newark’s South Ward.
At approximately 4 p.m., gunfire rang out in the vicinity of Mapes Place and Shephard Avenue.
Police arrived and found an unconscious and unresponsive male suffering bullet wounds at that location.
The victim was rushed to University Hospital, and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office were notified of the shooting.
Police have not announced an arrest at this time.
