Police have a crime scene established and an investigation underway into a shooting that has a woman fighting for her life after being struck by gunfire in a section of Newark.
According to police, at approximately 8:30 p.m., shooters arrived in the vicinity of 121 South 8th Street and began firing close to a dozen rounds at unknown targets.
When rapid responding officers arrived at the scene, they found the severely injured and heavily bleeding woman shot multiple times at that location,
Police say the victim was rushed to University Hospital, where doctors immediately began surgery.
Units canvassing the area found a vehicle struck by bullets as well.
The suspects fled the scene and remain at-large.
