This breaking news takes you to the 100 block of Augusta Street where police have a large crime scene established to investigate a shooting that occurred a short time ago in Irvington.
Several police units responded to reports of shots fired with a person down in front of the Augusta Preschool Academy at around 5 p.m. where officers arrived and found the victim struck multiple times by bullets at that location.
EMS rushed the victim to University Hospital in Newark suffering life-threatening injuries according to preliminary reports.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
