BREAKING: Cranford Officer Injured in Garden State Parkway Shooting

In a late-night incident that has shaken the local law enforcement community, multiple agencies, including the Union County Prosecutor's Office, are investigating a shooting that resulted in a police officer being wounded.

The event occurred on the Garden State Parkway late Thursday evening.

Details are scarce, but preliminary reports indicate that around 11:30 p.m., Cranford Police engaged in a pursuit that ended with a vehicle crashing southbound near exit 131 on the Parkway in Woodbridge.

Officer shot In the aftermath of the collision, gunfire erupted, leading to a Cranford police officer being struck in the arm.

The officer was immediately transported to University Hospital, though his condition remains unconfirmed.

At least one individual (possibly the suspect)  was injured in the shooting, though it is unclear if their injuries were fatal.

(UPDATE: 3:52 a.m. This individual -possible suspect- is confirmed dead)
