BREAKING: Child, Adult Found Shot in Newark’s South Ward

Authorities are actively investigating a shooting in Newark’s South Ward that left a child (around 8 years old) and an adult male injured on Friday evening.  

According to preliminary information, Newark Police responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the vicinity of 180 Osborne Terrace at approximately 5:33 p.m. 

Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim and a child suffering from gunshot wounds.  

Police units rushed both victims to University Hospital for treatment. The child was pronounced dead by doctors. 

In response to the incident, law enforcement has placed the area on lockdown, and a crime scene has been established as detectives work to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.  

At this time, details remain limited, and authorities have not provided further updates on the victims or potential suspects.
