Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Captain Scott Cartmell of the Piscataway Police Department announced today that two men have been arrested and charged with illegally disposing a corpse.
Scott Maynor, 33, and Edward Guy, 35, both of Bound Brook, were arrested and charged on February 16, 2016 after the remains of Nicholas Phelan, 27, of Edison were found on February 14, 2016 at 5 p.m. by a passerby in a wooded section of Piscataway near River Road.
Bail has been set at $75,000 for each of the defendants.
The investigation determined that the defendants and the victim were in Bound Brook when the victim died. The cause of death has yet to be determined and is awaiting the results of toxicological testing.
Following the death, the defendants moved the victim to the wooded section, where he later was discovered by the passerby.
The investigation is active and is continuing.
