Bloomfield Woman Identified as Early Sunday Morning Fatal Crash Victim

"A beautiful person" is how family and friends are remembering a woman who was involved in a crash that caused her fatality early Sunday morning on the Garden State Parkway in Cranford.

According to authorities the woman has been identified as 25-year-old **Alexis Simpkins of Bloomfield** and said she was the woman killed in a crash that was first reported by Metro Breaking News at around 5 a.m. on Sunday.

Emergency responders rushed to the northbound side of the Garden State Parkway for a report of a crash with injuries shortly after 5 a.m. where arriving crews located a 2010 Toyota Corolla - driven by Simpkins - down an embankment authorities said.

According to police, Simpkins - for unknown reason - drove off the right side of the road, down an embankment and struck a tree.

Simpkins was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:55 a.m.

Family members told RLS Metro Breaking News that they are devastated by the lost of Simpkins but wanted to thank everyone for their condolences and warm thoughts as they get through this difficult time.
