Over 300 residents joined at over 30 locations throughout Bloomfield this past Saturday, April 22, to make their community cleaner as part of the Annual Spring Town-Wide Cleanup.

According to officials, sponsored by the Bloomfield Beautification Committee and in collaboration with local schools, community groups, and residents, the cleanup successfully removed significant amounts of litter and other debris from streets, sidewalks, and public spaces across the town.

“I am extremely proud of the volunteers who dedicated their time and energy to pick up trash, plant trees, and beautify our community. It's inspiring to see people take ownership of their environment and take responsibility for their actions,” said Mayor Michael Venezia.

“Today's cleanup was just one example of how we can work together to address problems and build a brighter future for everyone.“

Organized by the Bloomfield Beautification Committee and with support from the Bloomfield Department of Public Works (DPW) and Division of Public Safety, the Town-wide Cleanup Day is a twice-yearly event that encourages residents to actively participate in the upkeep of their neighborhoods and think about the small ways they can make a difference year-round.

“

Participants choose their own location, and the Bloomfield DPW drops off and picks up supplies, including gloves, garbage pickers, bags, rakes, and shovels to be used for the event.

Many families brought their children to participate in the campaign, which provided an opportunity to instill values of conservation and community service.

“Our children are the future of Bloomfield, and it is our responsibility to show them how to take care of their surroundings. By involving them in activities like this, we can nurture their love for nature and their sense of belonging in the community,” added Councilwoman Jenny Mundell.

“As always, we extend our immense gratitude to the Beautification Committee and the staff of the Township for their efforts.”

The Bloomfield Town-wide Cleanups are a great opportunity for residents to take pride in their community and work together to make a difference.

They are a chance to promote a clean and healthy environment by allowing residents to take ownership of their own neighborhoods, parks, and other public spaces.
