Bloomfield Police Search for Suspect Wanted for Robbing, Beating Man for Sneakers

Police in Bloomfield are on the search for a suspect wanted for attacking a man then stealing his sneakers in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant in the township.

Bloomfield police have arrested two suspects in connection with a robbery that recently took place in a local Wendy’s parking lot, but a third suspect remains at large, authorities announced Monday.

According to the police, several 911 calls reporting that a robbery was taking place at the Bloomfield Avenue Wendy's restaurant parking lot had police on the scene at around 4:15 p.m.

Several witnesses reported to police officers that they observed several men attack a male victim and steal his sneakers.

The men reportedly threw the men to the ground then punched and kicked the 41-year-old victim before taking his sneakers valued at $500. Authorities said.

EMS treated the victim for cuts, and bruises police said.

Officers working on a description of the suspects canvassed the area and located two men, who allegedly fit the descriptions, walking in the area of Bloomfield and Watsessing avenues, authorities said.

Police arrested the men and later identified them as Ahmari Gilmore, 21, and Bobby Reed, 23, both of Newark.

Officers found the victim's hat and sneakers in the suspect's possession, police said.

Bloomfield police charged Gilmore and Reed with robbery and conspiracy.

Police provided an image of the third suspect who remains at large.
