Bloomfield Mayor Urges Residents to Complete Census

Bloomfield

BLOOMFIELD, NJ -- Bloomfield Mayor Michael Venezia is asking residents who have not yet responded to the 2020 Census to do so as soon as possible.

The Census questionnaire takes just minutes to complete and is available online at https://2020census.gov/en.html.

The response rate in Bloomfield as of March 24 is 25.3% however, there is still time for those who have not yet filled out the survey to complete it.

“As a result of COVID-19, we have been mostly confined to our homes and have been focused on keeping ourselves and our families safe; however, it is still crucial that every Bloomfield resident is counted,” said Mayor Michael Venezia.

“Filling out the census survey takes only a few minutes and will have significant funding implications for our community. I encourage everyone in Bloomfield to make sure that they are counted.”

Residents should use the code included on a census postcard that is being mailed to their homes, or if they do not have the code they can follow the instructions on the website.

If you have not yet filled out the census questionnaire, you will be getting a reminder in the mail over the next few weeks.

You will be able to save the Census Bureau from having to follow up if you answer online or by phone today.

The Census Bureau has been forced to make operational and timing adjustments as a result of Covid-19.

The changes have been made to ensure the safety of census employees as well as the general public. These adjustments will allow the Census Bureau to finish completion of an accurate count of all communities.
