Bloomfield Fire Department Accepting Applications

Bloomfield

The Bloomfield Fire Department is hiring fire fighters to protect and serve the residents of Bloomfield.

Eligible Bloomfield residents are encouraged to apply online at www.state.nj.us/csc between now and August 31st.

“The brave men and women of the Bloomfield Fire Department respond to thousands of emergency situations in town every year. We rely on having the very best Fire Fighters to keep residents safe. I encourage all qualified individuals who want to serve our community to take this exam and join the Bloomfield Fire Department,” said Mayor Michael Venezia.

Officials say to become a Fire Fighter in the State of New Jersey, one must pass a written test conducted by the Civil Service Commission before taking a series of physical tests. Once an individual passes the series of tests, he or she can apply to serve in his or her community.

“Growing up in Bloomfield, the decision to serve my community was a no brainer. I have proudly served in the Bloomfield Fire Department with some great men and women for the past 19 years, and look forward to mentoring the next crop of Bloomfield Fire Fighters,” said Fire Chief Louis Venezia. “We are proud of the diversity in our department, and encourage men and women of all backgrounds to apply to serve our shared communities.”

According to authorities, there are currently 78 full-time fire fighters and 20 volunteers on staff, but fiscal responsibility and recent bond upgrades have saved the Township money that will be used to promote public safety.
