Bicyclist Airlifted After Route 22 Accident in Bridgewater

A 43-year-old bicyclist was transported via Medevac to the hospital last night, after a vehicle struck him on Route 22 in Bridgewater.

According to police, bicyclist, Manuel Dejesus Morales Perez, 43, of Bound Brook, was attempting to cross the highway on his bicycle when Elinor Brooks, 53, of North Brunswick, struck him at approximately 7:50 p.m. 

Police requested Medevac helicopter to transport Morales Perez to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. 

Morales remains in critical condition, police added.

Brooks was transported to Robert Wood University Hospital where she was treated and released, according to police. 

The incident remains under investigation, police said.
