Bergen County School Reports Success in Distant Learning Transition During COVID-19 Pandemic

Bergen County

Distance learning is a success at the Academy of the Holy Angels in Demarest, where growth mindset problem-solvers are collaborating to maintain educational continuity and a sense of community.

Officials say while the world self-quarantines to halt COVID-19 (novel coronavirus), AHA’s teachers, students, and staff are using Google Meet, virtual science labs, and other creative methods to continue the work begun in AHA's classrooms.

AHA Instrumental Music Director Mariann Annecchino has her orchestra and jazz students record themselves playing along with a professional recording to simulate playing with an ensemble.

Morning announcements have been supplanted by Principal Jean Miller's email. Messages include a prayer and a trivia question.

AHA's college counselors moved the course selection process online.

Students are using the camera and microphone functions on their laptops to participate in classes, host club meetings, study, and have lunch with friends.
