Bergen County Prosecutor Updates on Glen Rock Basketball Park Shooting Investigation

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella has provided updated information regarding the ongoing investigation into the shooting at Wilde Memorial Park in Glen Rock.AdThe investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck, and the Glen Rock Police Department, under the direction of Chief Dean Ackerman.

On Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at approximately 7:34 p.m., Glen Rock Police responded to a disturbance at Wilde Memorial Park, where a large crowd had gathered to play basketball on the outdoor courts.

Upon arrival, first responders discovered a 23-year-old male from Paterson who had sustained a single gunshot wound.

The victim was treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released.

The initial response to the incident saw the collaboration of multiple neighboring law enforcement agencies, including the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department, Fair Lawn Police Department, Hawthorne Police Department, New Jersey Transit Police Department, Paramus Police Department, and Ridgewood Police Department.AdFollowing the initial response, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Special Investigations Squad arrived on the scene to commence a joint investigation.

As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains active.

Wilde Memorial Park is currently closed to the public until further notice.

Authorities are seeking the public's assistance in the investigation.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Glen Rock Police Department request that anyone with photos, videos, or any other pertinent information related to the incident contact them to aid in their investigation.
