Bergen County Man Arrested for Paterson Shooting

Passaic County authorities announced that based upon an investigation by the Paterson Police Department in conjunction with the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, Jamal Rollins, 29 years- old from Hackensack, was arrested in relation to a shooting investigation that took place May 5, in the area of Pearl Street and Summer Street in the Paterson.

According to officials, Jamal Rollins is charged with Attempted Murder First Degree, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon Second Degree, and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose Second Degree.

Officials say At approximately 10:59 p.m. on May 5th, 2023, members of the Paterson Police Department were advised that a 26-year-old male Paterson resident arrived at Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson seeking treatment for a non-fatal gunshot wound.

It was determined that the shooting took place in the area of Pearl Street and Summer Street in Paterson.

According to authorities, based on the investigation Jamal Rollins was identified and charged.

Jamal Rollins was apprehended by members of the Paterson Police Department on May 11, at approximately 3:50 p.m., in the area of 16th Avenue and Carroll Street in Paterson.

The State filed motions for pretrial detention for Jamal Rollins that a Superior Court Judge will hear.
