Bergen County Juvenile Issued Summonses After Crash Injures Pedestrian

Officials in Bergen County announced the investigation of a motor vehicle crash that occurred on Saturday, August 1, near the intersection of Wyckoff Avenue and Newtown Road in Wyckoff.

According to a statement released by The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, at approximately 10:34 a.m., the Wyckoff Police Department received a 911 call reporting that a motor vehicle had struck a pedestrian and a utility pole.

Offcials said Wykoff Police contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Investigation Unit, and the resulting investigation revealed that a juvenile attempted to turn from Newtown Road onto Wyckoff Avenue and lost control of his vehicle in an effort to avoid striking another vehicle.

According to police, the juvenile's vehicle then entered the sidewalk where it struck a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a 50-year-old female, was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center, where she is in stable condition. The juvenile cooperated with police and was issued motor vehicle summonses for Careless Driving, and Failure To Stop At A Stop Sign according to police.

The incident remains under investigation.
