Residents in Belleville are gearing up for a community-wide celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, with a series of events featuring patriotic displays, live music, family activities, historical tributes, and fireworks.

“As we celebrate America’s 250th birthday, Belleville is proud to honor the generations of men and women who built, defended and strengthened our nation,” said Frank Velez.
“This milestone is an opportunity to reflect on our shared history, celebrate our community spirit and create new memories with family, friends and neighbors.”
The festivities are already underway with Belleville’s Home Decoration Contest, which encourages residents to decorate their homes in red, white, and blue.
The contest runs through June 26, with the winner receiving a barbecue package sponsored by Rinaldi’s. The winning home will be announced on June 30.
Meanwhile, Belleville’s official artist, Athena Zhe, is completing a commemorative mural honoring the nation’s semiquincentennial.
The artwork, located near Route 21, incorporates imagery celebrating both American history and Belleville’s iconic cherry blossoms.
The celebration continues on June 27 when the Belleville Public Library hosts a patriotic program beginning at 11 a.m. The event will feature a performance by the Navesink Brass Band along with refreshments and family-friendly activities.
On July 4, residents can begin the holiday with a free Yoga in the Park session at School No. 7 Field at 9 a.m.
Later that morning, Belleville will honor Revolutionary War soldiers buried at the historic Dutch Reformed Church during an 11 a.m. remembrance ceremony.
The township’s free Color Run will take place at 1 p.m. at Belleville High School, where participants are encouraged to wear light-colored clothing and prepare for an afternoon of colorful fun.

The centerpiece of Belleville’s celebration will be its annual fireworks show on July 3 at Municipal Stadium. Gates open at 6 p.m. for an evening featuring food trucks, games, face painting, music, and family entertainment before fireworks light up the night sky.
Town officials say the events are designed to bring neighbors together while honoring the nation’s past and celebrating the community spirit that continues to define Belleville.
