Belleville Man Accused of Killing Pregnant Verona Woman Accepts Plea Deal

A Belleville man, accused of being on heroin when he crashed and killed a pregnant Verona woman, accepted a plea deal today.

According to authorities, Anthony V. Casale Jr., came before the Superior Court judge to accept a plea deal that sentenced him to seven years for vehicular homicide and a consecutive three-year term for assault by auto for the death of Megan Villanella, of Verona.

According to authorities, Anthony V. Casale Jr. on March 3rd, struck

seven months pregnant, Megan Villanella, and her brother, Derek Longo, with his mother’s 2006 Mitsubishi, while they were both standing on the sidewalk at Lakeside and Pease avenues.

Ms. Villanella sustained fatal injuries while her brother was critically injured.
