Detectives are asking for the public’s assistance as they investigate the death of a Camden man that has been ruled a homicide, according to information released by the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and the Camden County Police Department.
Emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the 500 block of Clinton Street in Camden at approximately 3:05 p.m. on Monday, April 6, after receiving reports of an unconscious male lying on the ground.
The victim, later identified as 51-year-old Thomas Haas Jr., was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at approximately 4:10 p.m.
According to officials, the Gloucester-Camden-Salem County Medical Examiner determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma to the torso, and the manner of death has been ruled a homicide.
As the investigation continues, detectives have reviewed surveillance footage capturing the victim’s movements in the city prior to his death on April 6.
However, authorities stated that no video has yet been recovered showing the actual assault or identifying a specific crime scene.
Investigators are urging anyone who may have seen Haas between Saturday, April 4, and Monday, April 6, to come forward with information.
