Police reported life-threatening injuries for the victim of a shooting in a section of Newark's West Ward.
In the investigation, at approximately 3:15 a.m., police responded to the area of 645 South 13th Street to investigate several reports of shots fired.
Upon arrival, police found a severely injured, unconscious and unresponsive person suffering bullet wounds.
Police say the victim was rushed to University Hospital in critical condition.
Officers taped off the area near West Side Park to search for evidence.
The suspect fled the scene and is at large.
