Authorities Need Public's Help Locating Fatal Hit-and-Run Suspect

Police continue the investigation of a woman who was struck and killed by a motor vehicle on Route 40 near the Bayview Motel in Atlantic City.

According to Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Diane Ruberton, on Nov. 3rd at 6:52 p.m. the Atlantic City Police, Atlantic City EMS, and AtlantiCare paramedics responded to Route 40, near the Bayview Motel at 1600 North Albany Avenue, Atlantic City, for a report of a pedestrian motor-vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, police found Amy Smith, 37, of Atlantic City, who had been struck by a motor vehicle. An autopsy, performed on Nov. 4th at the New Jersey State Southern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office, determined the cause of death as multiple blunt force injuries and the manner of death was accident (pedestrian struck by vehicle.)

An arrest warrant has been issued for Carlos Ignacio Prada Arriaga, age 27, of Pleasantville, who was operating the vehicle that struck and killed the victim prior to leaving the scene.

He has been charged with leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle, unlicensed driver involved in a motor vehicle crash resulting in death.

The suspect was last seen with Alejandra Rivera, aka: Sandra Rivera.


The investigation continues to be actively pursued.
