UPDATE: A morning shooting in Paterson has police investigating the death of a New York man struck by gunfire.
Police responded to the area of Fulton and Mercer Street around 9:45 a.m. for a report of shots fired.
Upon arrival, police found Dennis Gillespie, 43, of New York shot dead and a second victim - a woman who was not identified - suffering non-life threatening injuries inside a Honda Civic, according to police.
The unidentified woman was transported to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center where she is listed in stable condition.
Authorities are actively investigating the incident and could not provide any additional details at this time.
