Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that took place in Elizabeth early this morning, acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park announced Thursday.
The shooting victim, a male believed to be in his late 20s to early 30s, has yet to be identified.
Police rushed to the area of New Point Road and 7th Street at approximately 2:30 a.m. today to find the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
A joint investigation involving the Union County Homicide Task Force and the Elizabeth Police Department was subsequently initiated.
An autopsy was scheduled to take place Thursday.
