Police set up a crime scene in the area of Third Street and Court Street as they searched for evidence in a shooting that rang out in the area Thursday evening.
According to preliminary reports, a male victim suffering injury from gunfire was assisted by firefighters from a station in the 400 block of Trumbull Street shortly before 5 p.m.
The victim was rushed to the hospital where he is said to be suffering critical injuries according to reports.
Detectives spent more than an hour on Thirds Street questioning neighbors and searching for evidence that a shooting had occurred in the area.
The shooting is under investigation by Elizabeth Police.
