Authorities Identify Victim of Fatal Shooting as 18-Year-Old Elizabeth Man

Authorities today identified the victim shot and killed on Court Street as an 18-year-old Elizabeth man.

On Wednesday, police responded to a 911 call indicating the discovery of a body in the area of Court and 4th streets shortly after 6 p.m.

The body of Oscar Antonio Martinez-Alvarez was discovered in the area between the New Jersey Turnpike overpass and the Norfolk Southern railroad tracks. Martinez-Alvarez was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Union County Prosecutor's Office.

The Union County Homicide Task Force and the Elizabeth Police Department are handling the investigation.
