Multiple rounds of gunfire erupted in the one hundred block of Columbia Ave. at around midnight sending several police units to the scene where they arrived to find a male victim suffering injury from gunfire.
EMS rushed that man (who is reported to be in his early 60's) to University Hospital where he reportedly suffered gunshot wounds to the chest.
A police search in the area for a black male who was wearing dark pants, and a dark backpack was immediately conducted. The suspects fled in the direction of Grove Terrace.
The shooting was the reported result of an attempted robbery.
