Atlantic City Police Search for Driver Involved in Fatal Pedestrian Strike

Police are investigating the death of an Atlantic City woman who was struck and killed last night in Atlantic City by a motor vehicle that left the scene, Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Diane Ruberton announced.

The Atlantic City Police, Atlantic City EMS, and AtlantiCare paramedics responded to Route 40, near the Bayview Motel at 1600 North Albany Avenue, Atlantic City, for a report of a pedestrian motor-vehicle accident yesterday at 6:52 p.m.

Upon arrival, police found an adult female Atlantic City resident, who had been struck by a motor vehicle that left the scene of the accident, according to authorities.

The unidentified victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Pronouncing Nurse Nancy Ellinger.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Crash Investigations Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department continue to investigate the incident.

Investigators are searching for a vehicle with a ladder-rack with front-end damage— possibly a pickup truck or an SUV—and request that anyone with information about the suspect vehicle and/or driver call the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Crash Investigations Unit at 609-909-7800.
