Atlantic City Man Involved in Accident Steals Good Samaritan's Vehicle

Atlantic City

A 23-year-old man was arrested Monday after stealing the car of a Good Samaritan who stopped to help, after he was involved in a crash.

According to authorities, on August, 13th at 7:22 am, patrol officers responded to mile marker 55 on eastbound US Route 30 for a report of a single car motor vehicle collision and a stolen vehicle.

Officials say Isiah Davis was driving his vehicle, along with a female passenger, when their car left the roadway striking a pole. A passerby stopped to check on the condition of the occupants. As he was speaking with the female passenger, Davis entered the passerby’s vehicle and sped off.

Sergeant Jody Hersh located the unoccupied vehicle in the 1900 block of Arkansas Avenue.

According to authorities, a citizen stopped Sergeant Hersh to report that they saw Davis walking away moments before Hersh’s arrival. Officer Brian McKinney located Davis and arrested him without incident a block away. He had the keys to the stolen vehicle.

The 24-year-old female passenger from Atlantic City, was transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, with non-life threatening injuries.

Police arrested and charged Isiah Davis, 23, of Atlantic City, with Joyriding, leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, reckless driving, and failure to report an accident.

Officials say Davis was released on a summons with a future court date.
