There is an active and ongoing investigation underway into a shooting that left one person severely injured in Asbury Park on Monday morning.
According to police, gunfire rang out in the vicinity of 1259 Washington Avenue at approximately 1:30 a.m., sending police to the scene to investigate.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a severely injured person suffering a gunshot wound at that location.
Police say the victim was rushed to Jersey Shore University Hospital for treatment and remains in critical condition.
Officials placed the hospital on temporary lockdown until police arrived to secure the facility.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation and the suspect remains at-large.
