Arrest Made in Newark Central Avenue Shooting

Newark Police announced the arrest of Mr. Ken Anderson, 30, in connection with an aggravated assault that occurred on April 7, 2022.

Police said at approximately 1:40 a.m., police responded to the 400 block of Central Avenue on a Shot Spotter detection.

While no injuries have been reported, police located 10 spent shell casings and property damage resulting from gunfire at the scene.

Police said Newark Detectives investigating this incident identified Anderson as one of two suspects in this incident and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Members of the Essex County Sheriff’s Office, working in partnership with the Newark Police Fugitive Apprehension Team, located Anderson outside of the Wynona Lipman Gardens Apartment Complex on July 25, 2022. He was found in possession of two handguns.

According to Newark Police, Anderson is charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of prohibited weapons (hollow point ammunition and defaced firearm), conspiracy, and two counts of resisting arrest.
