Police in Newark's South Ward are investigating a shooting incident that occurred in that part of the city on Friday morning.
Officers responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the vicinity of 79 Vassar Avenue around 12:40 a.m.
Units arrived and found evidence that a shooting occurred but after they searched the scene, no victims were reported by police.
Police say a ShotSpotter device alerted them to multiple rounds in the neighborhood and shell casings were recovered.
The motive for the shooting has not been determined.
