Police in Newark are on the search for armed suspects who pulled up in a vehicle alongside a car then began to repeatedly fire shots at a woman in the city's South Ward this afternoon.
According to police, officials at Beth Israel Hospital contacted police when a female victim entered the emergency department suffering a bullet wound to her back at around 4 p.m.
The victim reported to police that while she sat in her vehicle in the vicinity of Lyons Avenue and Willoughby, a Jeep occupied by two armed males pulled up and began to fire shots inside her car.
Police say the suspects then sped away front the scene immediately after the shooting.
The victim’s injuries have not been reported as life-threatening.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation by Newark Police.
