Police temporarily closed a portion of Newark's South Ward to investigate a shooting incident this morning.
Gunfire rang out in the vicinity of 556 Bergen Street just before 10 a.m.
When police arrived at the scene, they found several shell casings in the neighborhood after armed suspects inside a vehicle fired multiple shots at unknown targets.
Police detained a person who's believed to be one of the gunmen, but several other suspects sped from the scene in a grey Audi with tinted windows.
The vehicle was last seen heading from Bergen to Hunterdon Street.
Newark Police will handle the investigation.
