Allegedly Intoxicated Roselle Park Man Strikes Parked Dump Truck Throwing Landscaping Employee Off in Kenilworth

Kenilworth Police Department received a report of a motor vehicle crash which occurred at the intersection of S. Michigan Avenue and Summit Avenue Saturday at 4 p.m.

At the crash scene, officers tended to an injured landscaping employee who was thrown from a mason style dump truck which was struck while parked legally.

The vehicle that struck the mason dump truck was driven by John King, 49, of Roselle Park.

A subsequent investigation at the scene led to the arrest of King for driving while intoxicated. In this case, a narcotic is believed to be a contributing factor.

The injured victim was transported by Kenilworth First Aid Squad to UMDNJ Hospital in Newark with serious injuries.

Detectives are conducting an ongoing criminal investigation in which King was initially charged with aggravated assault by auto, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, and driving while intoxicated.
