ALERT: Suspect Wanted for Newark West Ward Burglary

The Newark Police Department is reaching out to the public, seeking assistance in locating Mr. Thomas Matthews, a 37-year-old resident of Newark. Matthews is wanted for questioning in connection with a burglary that transpired on Wednesday, August 23. 

Newark Police said the incident unfolded when law enforcement responded to a residence in the 100 block of Brookdale Avenue.

The victim reported a burglary, detailing that an unidentified male had accessed the residence's unlocked garage.

Police say the thief made away with plumbing tools, a music box speaker, and a substantial broom.

The estimated total value of these pilfered items amounts to approximately $450.00.

Detectives assigned to this case are actively searching for Thomas Matthews as part of their ongoing investigation.

Matthews is described as standing at 5'11" tall and weighing approximately 150 pounds. In addition, he possesses a distinctive tattoo adorning the right side of his neck.

Director Fragé is issuing a plea to anyone who possesses information regarding the current whereabouts of Thomas Matthews to come forward and assist in the investigation.
