ALERT: Suspect Wanted for Breaking into Newark West Ward Halal Restaurant

Newark's Police officials are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying a male suspect linked to a recent business burglary that transpired on Monday, September 18, 2023.

Officials said the incident happened at Sunshine Halal Restaurant near South Munn Avenue and South Orange Avenue.

In response to a burglary call, police swiftly responded to the scene.

At approximately 11:20 p.m., surveillance footage captured a male suspect using pliers to cut through the bottom portion of the restaurant's front entrance.

Subsequently, the suspect made off with two cash registers containing an estimated total of $700.00 in cash.

Detectives examining the surveillance footage described the suspect as a Black male sporting a white beard or goatee.

He was seen wearing a dark gray/light and white Adidas pullover jacket, matching pants, and tan work boots bearing dark stains on the front.
