ALERT: Search Underway for Irvington Man Wanted for Newark Central Ward Shooting

Police in Newark issued an arrest warrant for Mr. Jessa Ward, 24, of Irvington, on a charge of aggravated assault in connection with a shooting that occurred on Saturday, January 25th.

Police say approximately 2:30 a.m., police responded to a residence on Bruce Street near West Market Street on a call of a suspicious person with a firearm.

Responding officers observed property damage resulting from gunfire following a quarrel between two men at the location.

No injuries have been reported police said.

Detectives investigating this incident have identified Jessa Ward as a suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

While police are actively searching for Ward, they seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating him as part of this investigation.
