ALERT: Community Assistance Needed in Locating Violent Newark Shooting Suspects

Newark

Police in Newark are seeking help from the community in removing four potentially violent suspects who are wanted for a set of shootings that caused injuries in the city in July.

According to a statement released by Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose, one of the incidents happened on Tuesday, July 31st, at around 11:30 p.m. where police responded the 400-block Central Avenue on a call of shots fired.

Director Ambrose said there were no injuries reported after police canvassed the area.

Police say the suspects are described as a group of males who fled north on 3rd Street from Central Avenue following the shooting.

According to Director Ambrose, at around 11:40 p.m. and 12:15 a.m. the next morning, police responded to a shots fired incident where they found a man shot inside the Jesse Allen Park, located at 41-55 Avon Avenue.

Director Ambrose said the victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment and was last reported in stable condition.

Major Crimes detectives investigating these incidents have determined that the same group of males were involved in both shootings.

While detectives are actively searching for these suspects, they seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating them and removing them from Newark and Essex County streets.

This investigation is active and ongoing.

Director Ambrose urges anyone with information about these suspects to call the Department's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477) or 1-877-NWK-GUNS (1-877-695-4867). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
