ALERT: Burglar Enters Home in the West Essex County Town of Verona

Residents in the tranquil Afterglow Section of Verona were jolted awake by an unsettling incident during the early hours of Wednesday, November 08.

AdVerona Police said an unknown perpetrator seized the opportunity to commit residential burglary, target a motor vehicle, and make an unsuccessful attempt to enter another residence while homeowners were asleep upstairs.

Authorities are actively investigating these events that unfolded between 12:30 a.m. and 2:00 a.m..

In the first reported incident, the intruder discreetly entered a residence and made off with a wallet left in the kitchen, unbeknownst to the occupants sleeping upstairs.

Police said the audacious thief then proceeded to a nearby driveway, where they targeted a vehicle in a second criminal act, burglarizing it for undisclosed items.

Undeterred by their initial criminal activities, the suspect embarked on a bold yet unsuccessful endeavor, attempting to gain access to a second residence through a first-floor door.

AdThe Verona Police Department's Detective Bureau has promptly launched an active investigation aimed at identifying the individual responsible for these brazen acts.

Police are actively seeking any information that may lead to the apprehension of the suspect.

To aid in their investigative efforts, law enforcement is contacting the community for assistance.

Residents and homeowners with video surveillance systems are urged to review their footage from 12:30 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. on the night in question.

If any suspicious individuals on foot are observed, authorities request that this footage be shared with the Verona Police Department.
