ALERT: Armed Men Wanted for Over a Dozen Robberies in Bloomfield, East Orange, Newark; Irvington Armed Carjacking

Essex County authorities are on an active search for several males who’ve engaged in terrorizing residents in East Orange, Newark, and Bloomfield by holding them at gunpoint and taking personal possessions since Wednesday morning.

According to preliminary reports, police are looking for a red Jeep Cherokee that’s occupied by as many as three black males who are armed with guns and committed most of the robberies in East Orange.

The suspects reportedly exit their vehicles and surprise commuters, with weapons drawn, then speed away from the scene after taking items.

Police in Newark reported an attempted carjacking that occurred in the vicinity of Delevan and Broadway where suspects fitting the same description tried to take a resident’s vehicle at around 10 p.m.

The suspects sped away from the North Ward location in a red vehicle police said.

On Tuesday, reports of a violent armed carjacking was reported in Irvington Township where the suspects ambushed a resident and took their vehicle at around 11 a.m.

According to reports, the victim was just able to escape being kidnapped by running from the attackers. Police found the victim on Grumman and Maple Avenue in Newark. Irvington Police officials could not be reached for public information on the carjacking.

There were no immediate reports of injuries in any on the incidents.
