25-Year-Old New Brunswick Man Shot in Franklin Township

SOMERVILLE, N.J. – Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson, and Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor announced an investigation into a shooting that occurred in Franklin Township, Somerset County.

Prosecutor Robertson stated that on at approximately 9:22 a.m. today, Franklin Township Police Officers, while on patrol in the area of the 700 block of Somerset Street, were notified of a shooting which had occurred nearby. Officers were able to confirm the shooting and were subsequently notified of a male shooting victim receiving treatment for a single gunshot wound at an area hospital.

Authorities say detectives from the Franklin Township Police Department along with detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded to conduct the investigation.

The investigation has revealed that a 25-year-old New Brunswick resident was shot once while in the area of Somerset Street. The victim self-transported himself to an area hospital for emergency treatment according to authorities.

The injury sustained was considered to be non-life threatening. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the shooting was an isolated incident with the victim being the intended target.

No arrests have been made, the investigation surrounding the motive and events leading to the shooting remain active.
