$18K in Cash Seized Following Marijuana Distribution Investigation in Ocean County

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced the culmination of a multi-jurisdictional investigation into illegal drug activity in Ocean County.

According to authorities, yesterday Detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Narcotics Strike Force, the Ocean County Regional SWAT Team, the Berkeley Township Police Department and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit, executed a no-knock search warrant at a residence in Berkeley Township.

Detectives determined the residence was being utilized to store and distribute marijuana and THC vaping cartridges. As a result of the warrants, detectives seized over five pounds of marijuana, approximately 225 THC vaping cartridges and quantities of psilocybin mushrooms. Officials also seized paraphernalia associated with the distribution of marijuana and approximately $18,000.00 in cash.

Subsequently, police arrested and charged Aryn Nemati, 25, of Bayville, with Possession of Marijuana Over Five Pounds but Less Than Twenty-Five Pounds, Possession of Psilocybin Mushrooms in a Quantity of One Half Ounce but Less Than Five Ounces with the Intent to Distribute, Possession of Psilocybin Mushrooms, Financial Facilitation of Criminal Activity, Possession of Marijuana over Fifty Grams and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Nemati is currently lodged in the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.

Police also charged Heather Alexander, 22, Bayville, with Possession of Marijuana Over Five Pounds but Less Than Twenty-Five Pounds, Possession of Psilocybin Mushrooms in a Quantity of One Half Ounce but Less Than Five Ounces with the Intent to Distribute, Possession of Psilocybin Mushrooms, Financial Facilitation of Criminal Activity, Possession of Marijuana over Fifty Grams and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Alexander was released on a summons pending a future court date.

The public and media are reminded that all defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

1,000
